Shorlette is the Equity in Food Systems Coordinator with the Center for Environmental Farming Systems at North Carolina State University. She leads the Committee on Racial Equity team where she facilitates racial equity training and develops curriculum to address food insecurity through the lens of structural racism. Shorlette was selected as the Center for Social Inclusion’s 2013 Food and Racial Equity Fellow. Her brief, “Shining a Light in Dark Places”, is a series of interviews of southern Black and Latinx Women of Color working in the food system which resulted in policy recommendations for creating a more equitable food system.
