Margarita Ramirez Loya

Margarita is a Mexican writer who lives and teaches on both sides of the US-Mexico border. She holds a BA in Communication from Universidad del Noroeste and a MEd Curriculum and Instruction, ESL from Arizona State University. Her award-winning curriculum and research have challenged her ESL students to coauthor We Are Stories, capturing and preserving the oral histories of the Arizona-Sonora borderlands. Margarita worked on a young adult novel about a Mexican mother and child who get separated at the Sonora/Arizona border trying to claim asylum during the Trump and Biden administrations’ Title 42 and Remain in Mexico policies.
