Alum Weeks at Mesa Refuge
Alums are invited to stay at the Mesa Refuge for one-week residencies designed specifically for you to work on writing projects following your own schedule and pace. During Alum Weeks, three alums will share the house for 6-7 nights—for a short stay that will, nonetheless, be wildly productive. The same perimeters apply as with our spring and fall residencies: we ask that you come with a project you’re working on and respect the time, space and quiet atmosphere that is essential for creative work.
Mesa Refuge staff will organize the groups on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a suggested residency fee of $950 to $1,500 per person for the week. Alum Week fees support our sustainability and create opportunities for future residents to experience the gift of a Mesa Refuge residency. We started this program in September 2022 and had a full schedule of Alum Weeks in 2023. Participants commented that—since they already know the house, writing sheds and property—it is easy to drop in to the creative process.
