Kung Li Sun

Kung Li is a lifelong Southerner raised in an immigrant family and currently based on the Gulf Coast. As a public interest attorney, she brought class-action lawsuits on behalf of people in prisons and jails. He left lawyering to support undocumented and abolitionist organizers as a strategist and trainer, and to write. Their first novel, Begin the World Over, is a counterfactual story about Indigenous and Black solidarity in the Age of Revolutions. It was published in 2022 as part of adrienne maree brown’s Emergent Strategies Series. While in residence at Mesa Refuge, they wrote the second part of the trilogy, carrying forward the timeline of Begin the World Over.
