Katherine Harloe

Kate is a writer based in New York. Her work has appeared in Mother Jones, The Drift, San Francisco Magazine, North Country Public Radio, The Rumpus, and many other publications. Kate has received a variety of awards, from the Society of Professional Journalists to a Fellowship at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics. She is also a producer of documentary films, a teacher and a member of several media advocacy organizations including the National Writers Union Freelance Solidarity Project and the Media Power Collaborative. At Mesa Refuge, Kate worked on a proposal for a book that maps a collective vision for a democratically owned and operated media system.
