Rowen White is a seed keeper from the Mohawk community of Akwesasne and a passionate activist for indigenous seeds and food sovereignty. She is the director and founder of Sierra Seeds, an innovative organic seed cooperative focusing on local seed production and education, based in Nevada City, California, and the current National Project Coordinator for the Indigenous Seed Keeper Network, an initiative of the Native American Food Sovereignty Alliance. Rowen’s passion is in teaching, mentoring and facilitation—she has worked collaboratively with many tribal communities to develop curricula which focus on a holistic, indigenous permaculture based approach to seed stewardship and food production.
