McKenzie Long is a rock climber, graphic designer, and writer living in the Sierra Nevadas who is inspired by connection to place. She has co-authored two climbing guidebooks, published an essay about Bears Ears National Monument, and won first place in Nowhere Magazine’s writing contest about public land. She is currently writing about our country’s most controversial national monuments, traveling to sites to examine the tensions, passions, and stories behind these protected places.
