Erika is a Natural Chef who prepares comforting and delicious meals for residents on their first evening and final day. She also provides support for the house and gardens at Mesa. Erika cooks with fresh vegetables from the local organic farm, Table Top Farm. She hopes her meals contribute to a memorable and nourishing experience at the Mesa Refuge. 

Born and raised in Japan, Erika has spent half of her life living in the United States. She has traveled to many countries, and loves learning about other cultures and exploring different types of cuisine.

Erika has a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from the State University of New York and completed the Natural Chef program at Bauman College in Berkeley, where she learned about all aspects of holistic cooking. Erika enjoys being outdoors, jogging and swimming in Tomales Bay. She truly believes that healthy and delicious food makes people happy.
