Clayton is a senior data reporter at Grist. A Reynolds Journalism Institute fellow, his writing and data visualization have appeared in The Atlantic, The Economist, The Guardian, Vox and many other publications. He holds MAs in neuroscience and public policy from the University of Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar. Clayton is also a research affiliate at the University of Washington’s Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology. At the Mesa Refuge, he worked on his nonfiction book, The Weight of Nature, exploring the neuroscience of environmental degradation, how a changing climate is changing us, from the inside out.
