April Dembosky is the health reporter at KQED public radio, covering health policy, mental health, and end of life. She has received multiple awards including first place in beat reporting from the national Association of Health Care Journalists and an Edward R. Murrow for best use of sound. April graduated from UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism and Smith College. While at the Mesa Refuge, April worked on a radio documentary that explores the stigma around mental illness and discriminatory public policy in the courts.
