Adriana Camarena

Alum 2018

Adriana Camarena writes about the Mission District of San Francisco. She weaves together histories of land and development with oral histories told by its current residents to provide a layered picture of this gentrified working class neighborhood. Social justice causes influence her writing, including her work accompanying Latino families who have lost loved ones to police brutality. At the Mesa, she worked on a book about the Mission District—and the struggle and resilience of its poor, black and brown residents.
