Tatiana Sowl is of Dena’ina Athabascan descent. They grew up spending summers enveloped in their culture, helping their family process and smoke salmon at fishcamp. Tatiana loves hearing stories from elders about how the land cared for their people and how people cared for their land. Medicinal plants play a big part in their love for Dena’ina culture. They are interested in learning about how elders used certain plants for illnesses before pharmacy products became readily available. Tatiana is involved in Quk’ Taz’un Outdoor Leadership Camp, a cultural related camp held at the beginning of summer. They have been a longtime attendee and more recently became a mentor for younger students. Tatiana is also a passionate photographer.
