Morning Star Gali is a member of the Ajumawi band Pit River Tribe and the founding director of Indigenous Justice. She serves as the California Tribal and Community Liaison for the International Indian Treaty Council. A passionate advocate for Indigenous sovereignty, she focuses on issues such as Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) and Peoples, climate justice, gender justice, and sacred site protection, working on behalf of the tribal and intertribal communities in which she was raised. She leads large-scale actions and organizes cultural, spiritual, academic, and political gatherings. At Mesa, she worked on a writing project that weaves personal narrative, research, and advocacy to document the lived experiences of Indigenous women and girls who are survivors of violence and impacted by the justice system.
