Mary Grace (“M.G.”) Bertulfo has written for television and children’s education in such venues as CBS, Pearson Education Asia, and Schlessinger and for conservation magazines such as Sierra and Chicago Wilderness. Her fiction, essays, and poetry have appeared in Dear Human at the Edge of Time, City of Big Shoulders, Growing Up Filipino II, and more. Mary Grace’s pieces have been performed at the Goodman and Open Door theaters. She co-owns Calypso Moon Art Studio, founded Banyan: Asian American Writers Collective, and has organized community arts events with the Chicago Field Museum, the Philippine Consulate Chicago, and the Girl Scouts. She delights in river clean-ups and lives in her eco-friendly ramshackle house with her spouse and fluffy dog.

At Mesa, she worked on her ecological novel for preteens, Marshall & Mandy’s Great Escape, which draws on precolonial Filipino mythology and knowledge.
