Julia Sonenshein's reporting and cultural criticism focuses on climate change, reproductive justice, labor, queerness, religion, and politics. Her writing has appeared in New Republic, Los Angeles Magazine, Politico, and Food & Wine, among others. Her essay, “Starving Toward Deliverance” was anthologized in Best American Food Writing. She was awarded grants and fellowships by the Vermont Studio Center and Sarah Lawrence College. At Mesa, Julia will work on a book tracing the history of American understandings of martyrdom.
