Angel Trazo received her PhD in Cultural Studies at UC Davis. She received her MA in Asian American Studies from UCLA and her BS in Biology and Art & Art History from Colgate University. She is the author and illustrator of the children's book We Are Inspiring: The Stories of 32 Inspirational Asian American Women and the illustrator of Vanessa Unmuted. Her scholarship has been published in Alon: Journal for Filipinx American and Diasporic Studies, Amerasia Journal, and Intersections: Critical Issues in Education. Her comics have been published in Bank Street Occasional Papers Series, ASAP/Journal, and Modern Language Studies. At Mesa, Angel worked on Gaddang Maganda, a children’s book that explores a young Pinay’s journey toward accepting her beautiful (maganda) brown skin.
