Stuart Holmes Coleman
Alum 2013Stuart Holmes Coleman is a writer, teacher, surfer and environmental consultant. Coleman is the author of Eddie Would Go and Fierce Heart (both from St. Martin’s Press), and he has written more than 50 articles for publications like Men’s Journal, Salon.com, Sierra Magazine, Hawaii Magazine, Surfer’s Journal and many others. Coleman won the Eliot Cades Award for Literature, the Hawaii Book Publisher Association’s Excellence in Non-Fiction Award and The Yemassee Award for Best Poetry. While earning his MFA in Creative Writing at American University, he served as the Writer-in-Residence at St. Albans School. Coleman has taught writing and literature at Punahou School, the University of Hawaii-Manoa and the East-West Center. He currently works as the Hawaii Coordinator of the Surfrider Foundation.
