Sonia Paul

Sonia Paul is an independent journalist, writer, and producer. She also teaches audio storytelling and strategizes media partnerships for KALW’s Uncuffed, a radio training program and podcast in California prisons. She’s reported and produced radio stories for 99% Invisible, BBC World Service, 70 Million, NPR, and public radio affiliates, and her written work has appeared in outlets like Mother Jones, The Atlantic, WIRED, Harper’s and Politico Magazine. Sonia previously lived and reported in India and Japan, and she regularly appears on podcasts, panels and in classrooms to talk about her reporting on caste. At Mesa Refuge, Sonia worked on a forthcoming documentary podcast series about caste in the United States, for which she’s received support from California Humanities
