Sonia is an independent journalist, writer, and producer and an editor/instructor at KALW’s Uncuffed, a podcast and audio journalism training program in CA prisons. She’s produced podcasts and reported radio stories for Pushkin Industries, 70 Million, NPR, PRI and public radio affiliates, and her written work has appeared in outlets like The Atlantic, WIRED, Harper’s and Politico Magazine. Sonia previously  lived and reported in India and Japan and regularly appears on podcasts and panels to talk about her reporting on caste. A Mesa Refuge, Sonia worked on a profile of Ashwini K.P., the United Nations’ special rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and related intolerance.
