Sandra, Yaqui from Arizona, is a long-time mentor educator working with students in grades K-12 as well as in adult education. She specializes in Mathematics, Reading Intervention, and Native American Literacy. Sandra is a founding member of PTSA of Arizona and current board member of the Guadalupe Yaqui Cultural Organization. She has provided decades of community building in Arizona communities, both native and non-native. Her work as a public educator has focused on developing before- and after-school programs that provide youth with resources to leverage their education and advocacy while community building. At Mesa Refuge, she wrote on the topic of Historical, Cultural and Language Knowledge: Guadalupe Yaqui Empowerment & Spiritual Foundation.
