Rod Griffin

Alum 2020

After earning a master’s degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Rod Griffin spent a decade as a journalist for Time Magazine, Oakland Tribune and Congressional Quarterly. For the past 20 years, he has worked as a senior writer at Environmental Defense Fund. His writing assignments often take him into the field, and onto the water. For a recent 10-part series on Cuba, he learned to scuba dive and ended up diving down 100-feet with sharks and 400-pound grouper. His articles have appeared in Time, dozens of national newspapers and on Medium. At the Mesa Refuge, he worked on a book about how the lumber industry could help restore forests, reduce the risk of megafires and revive struggling rural communities.
