May is a reporter in New York City for Vanity Fair, writing about defense contracting, veteran’s issues and sex work. She was a foreign correspondent in Kabul, Afghanistan, from 2013 to 2017, covering women’s rights, American foreign policy and civilian casualties. Previously, she lived in Beirut, Lebanon and Canada. An article she wrote about Carlos Ghosn, a car company CEO who was smuggled out of Japan, was optioned by actor Sam Rockwell and MGM Studios Inc. At Mesa Refuge, she worked on The Life: Sex, Work, and Love in America, a narrative nonfiction book examining the ways in which sex work intersects with the American criminal system.
