Mary Gomes

Mary Gomes is a Professor of Psychology at Sonoma State University, and a core faculty member in Sonoma State’s Depth Psychology MA program. She integrates mindfulness and compassion practices into her undergraduate coursework at Sonoma State, and has a long-standing interest in nature awareness practices and a commitment to ecological sustainability. She was co-editor of the book Ecopsychology: Restoring the Earth, Healing the Mind. She received her BA from Harvard University, and her PhD in Psychology from Stanford.

She has been practicing Tibetan Buddhist meditation for 25 years at the Nyingma Institiute of Tibetan Studies in Berkeley.
