Lama Rimawi

Lama Rimawi, MD is a pediatrician, writer, researcher and advocate for human rights and children’s health. Lama is a recipient of the 2023 Rooted & Written Fellowship. In April 2024, she and her colleagues published the preliminary findings of a landmark study on Anti-Palestinian Racism and its traumatic effects on both Palestinians and non-Palestinian allies. Most recently, she published an additional findings report on anti-Palestinian racism against students and educators. She is President and Founding Member of the Institute for the Understanding of Anti-Palestinian Racism and a Board Member of Women for Peace: the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom. Lama was recently interviewed by Judy Woodruff on the PBS NewsHour Reframe Festival for her compassionate advocacy for social justice and human rights. She is writing historical non-fiction about grief, loss, genocide and love and the strength it takes to be Palestinian.

Lama was part of Mesa’s 2024 Voices for Palestine invitation residency.
