James Boyce is a professor of economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and recipient of the 2017 Leontief Prize for Advancing the Frontiers of Economic Thought. His most recent book, Economics, the Environment, and Our Common Wealth was selected by the American Library Association as a Choice Outstanding Academic Book.

While at the Mesa Refuge, James will be working on his forthcoming book, The Case for Carbon Dividends, which sets the environmental and political logic for carbon pricing with a fraction of the revenue returned to the public.
