Fanna Gamal

Fanna is an Assistant Professor at the UCLA School of Law. Her work examines how the law distributes resources needed for individual and collective well-being. Fanna writes in the areas of education law, critical race theory, law and technology, and law and social movements. In addition to teaching in the law school’s Critical Race Studies program, Fanna directs the Community Lawyering Clinic. Before coming to UCLA, she was an attorney and clinical supervisor at the East Bay Community Law Center in Berkeley, California, the recipient of an Equal Justice Works fellowship, and a Fellow at New America.
Janna received her J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law where she was an editor of the California Law Review. Her writing has been published or is forthcoming in the Stanford Law Review, UCLA Law Review, Columbia Journal of Gender & Law, and California Law Review among others.
