Deena Chalabi

Deena Chalabi is a writer and curator whose work explores memory and the relationship between individual expression and public life. She co-curated Public Knowledge, a partnership between the SF Museum of Modern Art and the SF Public Library exploring urban change and knowledge in the digital age. Deena has organized public symposia about art, social change and cultural exchange in several countries. Her writing has appeared in Bidoun, ArtAsiaPacific, and SFMOMA’s Open Space. She is currently a Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley’s Arts Research Center. At the Mesa, she worked on a memoir/cultural history about personal and political fictions in the context of the most recent U.S. war in Iraq and its aftermath.
