Dara is an activist, organizer, writer, freedom dream quilter and doula. She is the co-founder and former Executive Director of the National Black Food and Justice Alliance, an alliance of Black led food and land justice organizations working together towards an intergenerational, urban/rural movement to deepen the organizing, institution building and advocacy work protecting Black land and work towards food sovereignty. She has won numerous awards for food justice and Black liberation. She is featured in and helped curate Bryant Terry’s book, Black Food.
