Bryant Terry is a James Beard Award-winning chef, artist, publisher and author renowned for his activism to create a healthy, just, and sustainable food system. Bryant is the founder and editor-in-chief of 4 Color Books/Ten Speed Press, which creates nonfiction books with chefs, writers and artists of color. From 2015 to 2022, Bryant served as the inaugrual  Chef-in-Residence at the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) in San Francisco where he created programming that celebrated the intersection of food, farming, health, activism, art, culture, and the African Diaspora.

Bryant’s latest book, Black Food: Stories, Art and Recipes from Across the African Diaspora, received widespread praise including the prestigious Art of Eating Prize, awarded to the best book about food each year. He is also the author of Vegetable Kingdom, Afro-Vegan and Grub.

His work has been featured in The New York TimesThe Washington PostThe San Francisco Chronicle, and All Things Considered among many other publications.  In December 2017 San Francisco Magazine included Bryant among 11 Smartest People in the Bay Area Food Scene.  A year earlier, Fast Company included Bryant among 9 People Who Are Changing the Future of Food.
