Andi McDaniel

Andi McDaniel oversees the station’s news, talk show and digital content teams as the Senior Director of Content and News. She’s responsible for defining the sound and style of WAMU’s broadcast and digital products, as well as spearheading new content, such as The Big Listen and What’s With Washington.

McDaniel’s expertise includes multiplatform content development, institutional innovation, audience engagement and digital strategy. In her previous role as Director of Content Strategy and Innovation for Twin Cities Public Television, she led the creation of Rewire, a cross-platform initiative focused on activating a new generation of public media consumers, supporters and leaders. The initiative, the first of its kind, brings PBS content to life across live events, broadcast, digital, and social media.

McDaniel is a graduate of the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism and an experienced journalist and storyteller. She has worked as a public radio reporter in Alaska, a TV news reporter for CBS in San Francisco and as a freelance writer and multimedia producer.

McDaniel lives in the Washington neighborhood of Columbia Heights with her partner, Shane, and their dog, Conrad, a digital native who has his own hashtag. #okayconrad
