Aaron Sachs

Aaron Sachs is associate professor of history and American studies at Cornell University. His areas of research include changes in the concept of nature throughout history, cultural and experiential aspects of modernity, regional planning, and environmental justice. He is the faculty sponsor Historians Are Writers, which brings together Cornell graduate students to cultivate moving creative writing in their academic work. On the undergraduate level, he teaches courses ranging from an overview of environmental history to seminars on consumerism, the American West, and the meanings of wilderness. He is the founder and coordinator of the Cornell Roundtable on Environmental Studies Topics, which seeks to bring together faculty and graduate students across all the environmental disciplines on campus. Aaron is also faculty fellow at Cornell’s Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future, and a faculty fellow at Flora Rose House.
