Week 3: Meet Krista Tippett
It’s week three of our Shelter Fund fundraising campaign, and we still have almost $35,000 to raise. We need your help to weather this challenging time, so that we can get back to supporting change-making writers and artists as soon as it is safe to do so.
This week, meet Krista Tippet. Krista is a Peabody Award-winning broadcaster and a New York Times bestselling author. In 2014, President Obama awarded Krista the National Humanities Medal at the White House for “thoughtfully delving into the mysteries of human existence” in her weekly national public radio show, On Being (formerly Speaking of Faith). She worked on her 2016 book, Becoming Wise: An Inquiry into the Mystery and Art of Living, as a resident here. From Krista:
“Mesa Refuge gave me the ground and grace to finish a book that had been building in me for years but struggling to emerge. The drama of sitting on the San Andreas fault is met by the peace of the house, the village, and the perfect writer’s cottages. More importantly, the house hums with a sense of creative companionship with all who’ve come before. It is a singular place, and I am glad at all times that it is out there on the edge and in the world.”
