Spring Campaign: Books that Offer Strength, Courage, and Resolve
This week:
A Greek Tragedy: One Day, a Deadly Shipwreck, and the Human Cost of the Refugee Crisis
In a world where forced migration is on the rise, A Greek Tragedy challenges us to confront our collective humanity. It’s an unforgettable testament of our times and a compassionate depiction of the lengths to which a person will go to save another human being.
From Jeanne:
“Words are how we bear witness to the world, its beauty and its injustice. Especially now, when the powerful want to co-opt the truth and spread hopelessness and despair, we can do our part to push back against every lie.
My residency at Mesa Refuge gave me the time and space to go deep. Each morning when I sat down at my desk in the writing shed overlooking the lagoon, worldly distractions melted away so that I could concentrate on the work at hand. I arrived with reams of notes and left with drafts of a couple chapters.”
Mesa Refuge residencies are free and funded by generous donors like you. This spring we must raise $75,000 so that we can host 100 writers and activists at Mesa Refuge this year. We provide them with the unique gifts of protected time, sanctuary, and community so that they can share the transformative stories, ideas, and knowledge the world needs to hear.
