Mesa Alum Susan J. Tweit came to the Mesa Refuge in 2003 to work on her memoir, Walking Nature Home: A Life’s Journey. Her residency came at a formative time in her career, helping her to not only deepen her writing but to understand her writing and what she could uniquely bring to the world.
After her husband died, Susan realized the importance of honoring her beliefs in her financial legacy. She recently named Mesa Refuge in her will — joining our growing Legacy Circle as a legacy donor.
“I don’t have a large estate, but I picked five organizations to be named in my will that I’ve been involved with in my life, organizations that really speak to my heart,” she said. “Edges are exciting places, with a lot of diversity and action, and we humans are on an edge right now. Mesa Refuge — on the edge of land and water, with a mission to support people in residence who are writing on the edges of important questions — is a place I want to honor,” she said.
Thank you, Susan! If you are considering naming the Mesa Refuge in your estate plans, please contact Susan Page Tillett to learn more about the Legacy Circle.
