Help Us Support Future Change Makers
This is week 2 of our six-week spring fundraiser, and we’ve already raised just over $20,000: that’s 40% of our goal! Thank you so much to those of you who have donated.
For more than 20 years, it has been our privilege to host change makers who have wrestled with and written about the most pressing environmental and social justice issues of our times–people like those pictured here.
If you haven’t taken the time to donate yet, please help us to support change makers like these who are working as grassroots activists and/or creating the intellectual infrastructure for movements contributing to a more sustainable and just world. Donations of $125 and above qualify you and a friend to come to our homecoming picnic June 15 as our guests and be entered into a drawing for a complementary DIY retreat.
This week: meet Irwin Keller. Please help us support change makers like Irwin by donating to our Spring 2019 fundraising campaign.

We live in times in which change making is a long game. It’s easy to feel like we make no difference. But everything we do with a vision of a flourishing world makes a difference in the here and now. The first century sage, Rabbi Tarfon, said, “It is not your obligation to complete the work; but you are not free to abstain from it.” All we are responsible for is our own piece. Maybe not in halls of government, but in conversation, in song, in ritual, in our teaching, in shared imagining, in practical decision-making.
Mesa Refuge reminds us: find a quiet place inside to do our work, then look up and be reminded of the horizon that awaits (read more).
