Join Jaune Evans and Susan Page Tillett, both Mesa Refuge alums, workshop leaders and Commonweal Healing Circle facilitators for a series of three 2-hour sessions where we will write together about the emotional, physical, spiritual, political or creative edge — wherever we find ourselves right now. All genres and experience levels welcome.

A maximum of 12 people will be admitted.

Workshop Format

Three Thursday sessions of two hours each: September 17, September 24 and October 1.

Facilitators

Jaune Evans is the executive director of Tamalpais Trust, which supports global indigenous-led organizations. She is a Soto Zen teacher and priest in the Everyday Zen sangha guided by Norman Fischer. Jaune also leads the Heart of Compassion sangha in Point Reyes on Friday mornings at the Presbyterian Church.

Her love for stories and West Marin have deep roots. She has served as a board member and advisory committee member of the Mesa Refuge, and has also received two of Mesa’s writing fellowships. Jaune is a new member of the Commonweal Board of Directors, former director of the Institute for Art and Healing at Commonweal, and is currently a facilitator in Commonweal’s Healing Circles program.

Susan Page Tillett brings 20 years of experience as a teacher. She is a frequent leader of workshops designed to encourage creativity. Susan is passionate about supporting the work of writers and other artists, which she currently does as Executive Director of the Mesa Refuge. Susan is the author of two books, The Ragdale House Speaks and What’s to Wear Beatrice Bird, as well as several works of creative nonfiction, including “Trip to Mexico, Side Trip to Heaven,” published in She Can Find Her Way: Women Travelers at Their Best.
