An Enlightened Approach to the Dismal Science
Join Mesa Refuge Alum Clair Brown for a reading and conversation with Mesa Refuge Alum and Advisory Council Member Kate Levinson about money — and how it works in our lives on economic and personal levels.Traditional free market economics measures income and consumption, but doesn’t attribute worth to the crucial human interactions that give our lives meaning. Free market economics is not guiding us toward living meaningful lives, nor is it offering solutions to our concerns about global wars, inequality, and environmental threats. Mesa Refuge Alum Clair Brown, an economist at UC Berkeley and a practicing Buddhist, has developed a holistic model, one based on the notion that quality of life should be measured by more than average national income.
