Zeina Hashem Beck is a Lebanese poet. She is the author of This Was Supposed to Be About Beauty. She’s the winner of the Arab American Book Award for Poetry for her book O. Zeina also authored Louder than Hearts, To Live in Autumn, and 3arabi Song. Her work has appeared in LARB, Lithub, The Nation, and elsewhere. She’s the co-editor, with Hala Alyan, of the anthology We Call to the Eye and the Night. At Mesa she worked on The Book of Departures, which explores revolution and its aftermath, chronic illness and survival, the shock of your children rapidly forgetting your language, and what it means to find refuge in a nation bombing your homeland.
