Marthine Satris is the Associate Publisher at Heyday, the nonprofit book publisher in Berkeley focused on nonfiction, where she also edits books about the natural world, history, and social justice in California. She is a co-founder of Oakland Review of Books and a frequent contributor there. She earned a PhD in English from UC Santa Barbara. Marthine grew up in and frequently spends time in Bolinas, and she makes her home in Oakland with her family. Her own writing has been published in San Francisco Chronicle, The Rumpus, Georgia Review, Ballast Journal, Contemporary Literature, Flyway Journal, and elsewhere.
