Marissa Ortega-Welch is the creator/host of How Wild, a KALW/NPR podcast about wilderness, how it's changing, and what that says about us humans. She is an award-winning radio and print journalist whose work has been featured in such outlets as All Things Considered, Science Friday, Latino USA, and High Country News. She is also an editor with KALW Public Media San Francisco. At Mesa, she worked on a book about the history of how lands were set aside as wilderness areas and how that decision stems from and furthers the idea that humans are separate from nature.
