Laura Fraser

Laura is a long-time Bay Area journalist and a NYT-bestselling author of Losing It: America’s Obsession with Weight and the Industry that Feeds on It, An Italian Affair, and All Over the Map. She is the editorial director of Shebooks.net, a digital platform for stories by and for women, and edited its first anthology, Whatever Doesn’t Kill You: Six Memoirs of Resilience, Strength, and Forgiveness.

She is a frequent teacher at the San Francisco Writers’ Grotto, where she is a longtime resident, and at her own Laura’s Mexican Writing Fiestas in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. A Colorado native, she is working on a novel about a ghost town and the stewardship of a large tract of high mountain territory.
