Jacob Needleman

Alum 2010, Alum 2013

Jacob Needleman came to San Francisco State University to teach philosophy, and since then my writing has been to discover how great philosophical ideas can help us navigate the crisis of the modern world. At the Mesa Refuge in 2010, he worked on completing a book related to environmentalism, titled An Unknown World: Notes on the Meaning of the Earth. At the Mesa Refuge in October 2013 he wrote about the need in our technocentric era to open the minds of the younger generation to questions of ultimate meaning and purpose in a conscious, living universe.

His most recent book, I Am Not I, was published by North Atlantic Books in 2016.
