Betsy Taylor

Betsy Taylor is president of Breakthrough Strategies & Solutions LLC. She advises foundations and individual donors dedicated to high-impact philanthropy in support of climate solutions, social justice, and sustainable development. Betsy helped found the Environmental Grantmakers Association, previously directed the Merck Family Fund, and led several non-profit groups including the Center for a New American Dream and 1Sky. She specializes in high impact philanthropy, results-oriented strategic initiatives, and building diverse networks of leaders dedicated to addressing the climate threat at the speed and scale required. Much of her recent work has focused on carbon sequestration and soil, with a focus on agriculture and land restoration. She is co-author and editor of Sustainable Planet and author of What Kids Really Want that Money Can’t Buy, both written largely at Mesa Refuge.
