Allen D. Kanner

Allen is a Berkeley psychologist who helped establish the field of ecopsychology in the early 1990s. In 2000, he co-founded the national advocacy group Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood. He is a frequent contributor to Tikkun Magazine as well as co-editor of Psychology and Consumer Culture: The Struggle for a Good Life in a Materialistic Society, and Ecopsychology: Restoring the Earth, Healing the Mind. At Mesa Refuge he worked on a book describing several partial alternatives to the dominant paradigm. The book will cover at least three crucial areas, law, work and media, and will emphasize the ongoing interplay of the structural and personal.
