Sara Catania

Sara Catania is editorial director of Zócalo Public Square, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit that partners with educational, cultural, and philanthropic institutions to publish original, ideas-based journalism in media outlets worldwide and present free public events across the U.S. and beyond. She has worked as a journalist at Reuters, NBC, Mother Jones, the Los Angeles Times, and the LA Weekly. Sara was a Soros Justice Media Fellow and a John S. Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University. At the Mesa Refuge, Sara worked on a memoir chronicling her years growing up on Chicago’s South Side, in the midst of one of the most sweeping “slum clearance” and urban renewal projects of the 20th century.
