Mark Shapiro is a Correspondent at the Center for Investigative Reporting in Berkeley, Californiaspecializing in international environmental stories. His work appears in all media: in publications such as Harpers, The Atlantic, Mother Jones, Yale 360 and The Nation; on television, including This Week in Northern California (KQED) and PBS FRONTLINE/World; on the public radio show Marketplace; and on the web. While at the Refuge he will be working on a book investigating the back-story to our carbon footprints. His previous book, EXPOSED: The Toxic Chemistry of Everyday Products and What’s at Stake for American Power, reveals the health and economic implications for American citizens and U.S. companies of the tightening of environmental standards by the European Union.
