Kamala is committed to ensuring residents/alums,  DIY guests, community members and donors have a positive experience at the Mesa Refuge. She brings more than 25 years experience in communications, events, program development and nonprofit administration to the Mesa Refuge. Kamala was previously co-director of Black Mountain Circle in Point Reyes Station, producing events that connect people to story, nature and spirit. She  was also program manager and movement facilitator for Syzygy Dance Project, bringing dance to people in prisons, hospitals and recovery centers around the Bay Area. At the Institute for Health & Healing at California Pacific Medical Center, she helped raise awareness of and provided greater access for integrative medicine within the Sutter Health network.

Kamala is passionate about personal and environmental health and has been a volunteer for ExtraFood, VA Palo Alto Health Care System and Zen Hospice Project. She previously worked at Women.com, Thrive, and Nolo Press. Kamala has a BA in English Literature/Business from UCLA, where she helped elevate women’s soccer to NCAA Division 1 status by invoking Title IX. Kamala lives in San Anselmo and Bolinas.
