Alum 2017

Joshua Horwitz is a Senior Fellow at the Ocean Foundation in Washington D.C., and the author of the New York Times bestseller and PEN Literary Award-winning nonfiction book, War of the Whales. As the founder of Living Planet Press and the Living Planet Books publishing imprint, he’s published and packaged dozens of environmental books by thought leaders in science and ecology, and in collaboration with leading conservation organizations. While at the Mesa Refuge, he worked on his forthcoming book, The Deep End of the Pool, a cultural and scientific biography of John C. Lilly, MD, the mid-20th-Century neuroscientist who, by attempting an inter-species dialog with dolphins, inspired the Save the Whales and animal rights movements that continue today.
